OnePlus 5 owners are reporting a frustrating display glitch

A number of OnePlus 5 owners have taken to the internet to complain that their handset is creating a rather annoying “jelly” effect when scrolling, which essentially means that parts of the screen are taking longer to refresh than others, thus creating a stretched illusion when loading additional content on applications like Facebook and Twitter.

The folks over at XDA Developers reached out to OnePlus to make them aware of the glitch, but it was reportedly already looking into it. Unfortunately, the firm didn’t provide any information that would suggest what exactly is causing the behaviour, nor did it reveal whether it’s a hardware defect or something that can be fixed by way of a software update.

Glitches aren’t out of the ordinary

No smartphone launch would be complete without a couple of teething issues, and in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t that major at all. If you cast your mind back to last year, you may recall that Samsung launched a smartphone that had an unintended special ability; it could burst into flames whenever it felt like it. Needless to say, it was forced into an early grave.
